Welcome Aboard SMS Families!
Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year at Showalter Middle School! I am so excited to welcome both returning and new families as we begin another year together.
As I start my second year as principal, I continue to feel incredibly grateful to be part of the Showalter community. Every day, I am inspired by our amazing scholars, dedicated staff, and supportive families. It truly is a privilege to serve as your principal.
At Showalter, we're ready to SAIL into another year of learning, growth, and new adventures. Our SAIL values—Solve Problems, Achieve Success, Inspire Others, and Live Healthy—help guide us each day as we create a school where every scholar belongs and every scholar grows.
This year is full of exciting opportunities! Our teachers are planning engaging lessons that encourage curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. Scholars will also have access to more elective choices, giving them even more opportunities to discover new interests, build their talents, and explore what they love.
We're also excited to launch several new learning experiences this year. Our ELA team will be piloting a new curriculum designed to strengthen literacy, critical thinking, and student engagement. Scholars will have opportunities to explore robotics, building skills in problem-solving, collaboration, and innovation. Across our math classrooms, we'll continue to expand real-world learning experiences that help students see how mathematics connects to everyday life, future careers, and the world around them.
One of the things I love most about Showalter is our strong sense of community. We know that the best journeys happen when we work together, and your partnership makes all the difference. Whether you're cheering on your scholar, connecting with teachers, or joining us for school events, thank you for being an important part of our crew.
I'd love to kick off the year by seeing many of you at our Back-to-School Bash on Tuesday, September 1, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. It's a wonderful opportunity to meet our staff, connect with other Showalter families, explore the school, and start the year with excitement and community. We'll also have free school supplies available while they last, family workshops with helpful back-to-school information and resources, and plenty of opportunities to get your questions answered before the first day of school. We hope you'll join us as we celebrate the start of another amazing year together!
Our staff is ready to raise the sails and help every scholar grow academically, socially, and emotionally. There will be challenges along the way—as there always are—but together we'll navigate them, celebrate successes, and continue building a school where every scholar feels seen, supported, and encouraged to do their very best.
I can't wait to welcome everyone back and see our hallways filled with smiling faces, laughter, energy, and the excitement that comes with a new beginning.
