Dear Showalter Families,
I am excited to welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year. We have eagerly anticipated the full reopening of our remodeled campus. Our custodial team and district maintenance staff members have been cleaning the building and readying the grounds in anticipation of student arrival on September 1st.
The past year and a half have been challenging with the pandemic, but I could not have been prouder of our Showalter family. Despite the stressors put on families, teachers, and students, we continued to see students engaging both in remote and hybrid learning. Our technology skills and communication improved and we learned to be more creative, flexible, and adaptable.
This year, we will look to strengthen our school-wide focus on social emotional learning. Our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) program will continue supporting students’ social emotional and behavioral needs. In addition, we will begin to implement the school-wide Social Emotional Learning (SEL) tool, RULER. Last year, homeroom teachers made vital connections with families, reaching out and providing supports. They will continue in this role. However, this year they will also be instrumental in teaching classroom-based social emotional lessons to their classes across the course of the school year.
I am so thrilled to have all of our students returning in person and can’t wait to see what they will accomplish during the 21-22 school year. Thank you for your part in this learning community. I’m looking forward to working with you this school year!
